Lysimachia Parvifolia 'Red' is an ornamental aquatic plant characterized by small and rounded leaves with red-bold shades. Ideal for the center or background of Nano aquariums and medium-sized aquariums, develops a more intense color with adequate light and balanced fertilization.
Lysimachia Parvifolia 'Red' is a compact and decorative stem plant, much appreciated in aquascaping for its ability to develop reddish shades even in relatively simple cultivation conditions. With enhanced lighting and a good availability of nutrients, the color intensifies, transforming it into a focal point of great visual impact.
The submerged leaves are small, rounded and remember young spinach leaves. For this morphological characteristic it is sometimes confused with Samolus Parviflorus, but it clearly stands out for red pigmentation.
Botanical characteristics
Growth is vertical and ordered, with close internodes that favor a compact bearing.
erected and branching fraft
opposite leaves, rounded
coloring from green-copper with intense red
compact development with regular pruning
Responds very well to the cut: the attacked portions can be replanted to quickly blind the bush.
Use in the aquarium
Lysimachia Parvifolia 'Red' is ideal for:
central area (Midground) in small and medium aquariums
rear zone (background) in nano aquariums
dutch layouts and Nature Style
chromatic contrasts with green leaf plants
The reddish shade creates a strong contrast with green plants such as Rotala or MicRanthemum, increasing visual depth and dynamism.
Cultivation needs
Lighting
With average light it already develops rosy shades.
With intense light:
increase red pigmentation
reduces the extension of the interior
keep compact bearing
Recommended values: from 0.5 W / L up (medium-high modern led equivalent).
Co2
Not strictly mandatory, but strongly recommended to obtain:
more vigorous growth
more compact leaves
maximum chromatic intensity
Recommended values: 15-25 mg / l for optimal results.
Nutrients
Likes complete fertilization with:
balanced macroelements (NPK)
iron available to enhance red
stable microelements
Stable conditions and balanced nutrients guarantee the best development.
Adaptation and cultivation in vitro
The in vitro Cup version is cultivated in a sterile environment on nutritional gel (AGAR), free of:
algae
snails
pesticides
pathogens
Being cultivated in emerged form, it can present leaves slightly different from the submerged ones. After insertion in the aquarium:
the leaves emerged will gradually replace
the plant will adapt to the submerged form
in 2-4 weeks the morphological change will notice
This is a natural adaptation process, not a product defect.
Plant instructions
Remove the plant from the container.
Carefully rinse the gel under running water.
Divide the carpet into multiple portions.
Plant with tweezers in the substrate, spacing slightly the stems.
Regular pruning stimulates info duty and maintains compact shape.
Water ideal parameters
Temperature: 20 - 28 ° C
pH: 6.0 - 7.5
KH: low-medium
GH: Medium
It is a relatively adaptable plant but shows the best performance in stable environments.
Colors and aesthetic rendering
The color varies according to:
luminous intensity
availability of iron
parameter stability
cO2 concentration
In optimal conditions it takes bright red shades with ramate nuances.
Other uses
Outside the aquarium, Lysimachia Parvifolia was used in traditional Chinese medicine as a plant with anti-inflammatory properties, testifying to its botanical interest.
Why choose Lysimachia Parvifolia 'Red'
Easy management also for neophytes
Red coloring already with medium light
Excellent for modern aquascaping
Simple reproduction via cutting
Available in a sterile version in vitro
It is one of the most versatile red plants for those who want to introduce color without requiring extreme conditions.
