The Limnobium laevigatum, originally from South America, is a decorative floating plant particularly suitable for open aquariums.

High from 1 to 5 cm and with leaves wide from 5 to 15 cm.

It is also good in traditional aquariums, because fine, long and decorative roots protect gouramies and other surface fishes that love the roots of floating plants. If the water contains enough nutrients and the intensity of light is good, the new leaves will appear above the water surface. It may be necessary to remove some to prevent the plants below from getting a little light.

When the level of nutrients in the water decreases, growth will be much slower, making it an excellent indicator of nutrients available.
