Cyperus species are widespread in all tropics, but only some of them are good underwater plants. The Cyperus helferi, coming from Thailand, is the first species of Cyperus used in aquarium, 20-35 cm high and with a 15-25 cm wide rosette. It requires a relatively high amount of light and it is recommended to add CO2 to promote its growth. In aquariums with a good flow of water the plant waves magnificently in the current.
