The Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' appeared as a culture in Ukraine and is probably a cross between the Echinodorus horemanni 'Red' and the Echinodorus 'Barthii'. The resulting hybrid is an attractive plant with ruby red sword-shaped leaves, 15-25 cm long.
Unlike many other species of Echinodorus, Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' remains of moderate size (large pot 20-30 cm), so it is extremely suitable as a solitary plant, even in small aquariums. By increasing nutrients in the substrate you get a more abundant growth, while favorable light conditions promote the formation of ruby red leaves
