Proserpinaca is a stem plant, 10-40 cm high and 5-10 cm wide.
Cultivated in closed cups, it is supplied with saw-teeth leaves, which after a transition period in the aquarium develops in long, finely serrated and needlehead leaves.
In good light conditions it takes a nice copper color and its characteristic appearance is a pleasant contrast with other plants.
Proserpinaca Palustris varies in form depending on its origin. Cultivar Tropica It is located on the Isla de la Juventud, off of Cuba. In the United States the plant is commonly known as "Mermaid Weed".
