    Special:

The kit JBL CO2 Test Set Direct serves to the rapid and precise determination of the carbon dioxide content in the water of the aquarium

    Why test?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most important nutrient of plants.

Without a supply of carbon dioxide, in the aquarium there are usually values between 2 and 4 mg / l.

Instead, a CO2 value between 15 and 30 mg / l would be recommended, however, a value of 20 - 25 mg / l has proved as an optimal value. This value is harmless for fish and, at the same time, provides luxuriant growth of plants. Then set your CO2 system to be done in such a way as to reach an ideal value.

The amount of CO2 which must be delivered to achieve this value, depends on various factors. Beyond direct consumption through the plants also the movement of water and the intensity of lighting influence it (more light makes plants grow more quickly and consequently increases the CO2 requirement).

For this reason the right amount to be added for each individual aquarium must be identified.

Also read the instructions for use of your fertilization plant with CO2.

Aquariums with a few or without plants as they use for example for malawi or tanganic lakes fish do not need a CO2 supplement.

    Help for fresh water:

Carbon dioxide content too low: <15 mg / l. Adding carbon dioxide with JBL Scuili Bio (CO2 of natural production from microorganisms).

    Added by a fertilization plant JBL PROFLORA CO2 (U401, U402, U403, M601, M602, M603, M1003).

Carbon dioxide content too high:> 30 mg / l. The time to intervene is indicated by the fish when they start breathing accelerated and remain at the water surface.

In this case the aquarium with a diaphragm pump JBL Prosilent. Reduce CO2 intake.

In the event of acute poisoning with carbon dioxide, a 50% water change must be performed.

Instructions for using the CO2 direct test in the fresh water:

    1. Rinse the two test tubes several times with the water of the aquarium to be analyzed.

    2. Rinse the syringe attached with the water to be examined.

    3. With the syringe fill the two test tubes with 20 ml of water

the Aquarium. Be careful not to create bubbles when you fill them.

    4. Place the two test tubes on the two fields of the attached color tab.

5a. In the test tube that stands on the white field 5 drops of reagent 1 and sharply sharpen it.

5b. Below you add the reagent 2 drop by drop in the test tube sharply after each drop.

Count the drops until the color becomes slightly pink and corresponds with the test tube on the other field of the Colors tab.

To compare the colors look good at the test tubes.

5c. Add reagent drops 2 until the color remains stable for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Each drop corresponds to 2 mg / l of carbon dioxide in the water. The number of drops x 2 is equal to the content of

Carbon dioxide in mg / l.
