DeNitrate - Seachem

Description

De*nitrateTM natural biofiltrating support eliminates nitrates, nitrites, ammonia and organic substances both from fresh water aquariums and marine water tanks. De*nitrateTM's high porosity promotes the proliferation of both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, which in turn contribute to the elimination of toxic aquarium residues. Even when it is being exhausted, as an organic adsorbent, De*nitrateTM continues to act as an excellent support of the biological filter and it is not necessary to remove it.

Why is Different

Live rocks remove nitrates through an anaerobic denitrification. De Nitrate removes nitrates through the same process, thanks to its very porous shape. As with the live rocks, the anaerobic conditions are obtained through the porosity and exhaustion of the oxygen that occurs due to the aerobic process on the surface. So very high flows should be avoided as they could prevent the development of an appropriate anaerobic process to support denitriphing bacteria.

De Nitrate is also an excellent aerobic nitrification material and makes it an ideal biological filter in all types of filters. For high water flows (larger than 400 liters per hour) will only make an aerobic filter. Low flows (less than 200 litres per hour) will also produce an anaerobic filtering.

Instructions for Use

For a better result put the product in a place crossed by a plentiful flow of water, like a basket filter, compartment for chemical filtration or in a special filter box. The flow should not be more than 200Lt now. If the flow is greater, the use of Seachem Matrix or Seachem Pond Matrix. The nitrate concentration will begin to decrease already after a few days the beginning of the operation of De Nitrate.

500ml of product can treat up to 100-200lt, depending on the initial concentration of nitrates and organic load.

If the initial concentration of nitrates should be very high, it is recommended that the level be dropped by water changes at a lower value of 20mg/lt.
