The echinodorus uruguayensis is a splendid aquatic plant coming from the Uruguay which is also widespread in southern Brazil, in Chile and northern argentina.
This plant has a polymorphous aspect: it can vary in the width of the leaves, in the coloring that goes from the olive green to intense red, passing through many color shades.
The uchinodorus uruguayensis needs a rather large aquarium to grow well: at least 300 liters are indispensable for an essence that in excellent condition can also develop a hundred leaves in a single plant and reach a height of 50-60 cm.
The leaves are usually thin (1-2 cm wide), start from the base and can show up slightly rippled.
For excellent development, e.uruguayensis needs an excellent fertilized substrate, a medium intensity of light, a medium hardness water, a slightly acid pH and a water temperature not too hot (ideal 18 ° -25 ° C).
Propagation can take place by division of rhizome, adventity plants.
