Substrate
The Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' appeared as a culture in Ukraine and is probably a cross between the Echinodorus Horemanni 'Red' and the Echinodorus 'Barthii'. The resulting hybrid is an attractive plant with leaves in the shape of a ruby red sword, 15-25 cm long.
Unlike many other species of Echinodorus, Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' remains of moderate size (wide rosette 20-30 cm), so it is extremely suitable as a solitary plant, even in small aquariums. By increasing nutrients in the substrate you get more abundant growth, while favorable light conditions promote the formation of ruby red leaves.
