Reef Advantage MagnesiumTM does not contain ammonia. This is a common contaminant in every magnesium liquid supplement on the market.
The different levels of impoverished magnesium (under 800 mg/L) can cause a lowering of the pH and an inability to maintain the calcium levels. The most frequent causes of a magnesium deficiency are the use of kalkwasser, frequent overdose of carbonates, or low levels in the salt mixed to it. Kalkwasser, for example, magnesium precipitates as well as magnesium hydroxide, while excess carbonates precipitate like magnesium carbonate. In both cases, this means that the magnesium that was present in the water is now useless. Of the two, magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate, the first is more problematic; is extremely insoluble. Once magnesium has precipitated as magnesium hydroxide, it will never be dissolved. The magnesium carbonate, on the other hand, is, but very slowly . So, as it returns to solution, there will be a significant portion of time in which magnesium will run out.
Instructions for Use
PRINCIPLES: Use 5 g (1 skunk) for 80 L twice a week. Melt them in at least 250 mL of fresh water.
NO NEOPHITES: Measure your magnesium level, then add the doses that will allow you to keep it at 1200131350 mg/L. Every 5 g/80 L will increase magnesium by about 5 mg/L. The dosage or frequency may be adjusted, but should never exceed 25 g/ 80 L per day.
EXPERTS: After checking the pace of impoverishment of magnesium, install a dripping system. Use the following formula to determine the amount of Reef Advantage MagnesiumTM to be added daily: g=vm80(g=grams to add to the water, v=volume of the tank in liters, m=quantity of magnesium to increase in mg/L). For example, if you want to increase 10 mg/L magnesium in a 200 litre aquarium, you will add (200x10)/80=25 g.
