Iodine is toxic as chlorine and must never be used in aquarium. Iodurs are safe vice versa.

Most iodine supplements on the market are simply potassium iodide or disinfectant medicine known as Lugol Solution. This solution has a high concentration of iodine/ioduro which is highly toxic and is used to disinfect. Although some products are sold to be used in the reef aquarium, we believe that greater risks only give less benefits. Potassium iodide is only a blando but not very effective alternative product due to the unstable nature of iodine in the aquarium. When placed in the aquarium, it becomes unstable by transforming iodine (which is a biocide), iodine (which is useless for corals, toxic at high levels, and cannot be subjected to measurement tests) and iodine which is the only form of iodine available from corals. These products are unstable and are potentially dangerous for coral growth.

Unlike most of the products on the market, Reef IodideTM is a stabilized compound that allows to add iodine in the aquarium without destabilizing the other elements.

Operating instructions:

Note that each scaling of the cap corresponds to 1 ml and the whole cap to 5 ml.

PRINCIPLES: add 5 ml per 200 lt always to alternate days.

NOT NEEDS: add 1 ml for 80 lt, daily to increase iodine to 0.10mg/L

EXPERT After ascertaining the rate of absorption of iodine realize a dripping system that ensures a slow and constant dosage. Use the following formula to determine the amount of product (M) to be added daily: M = 0.5 x V x I (M: daily dose in ml; 0.125: standard coefficient; V: volume of aquarium in l; I: programmed increase of iodines in mg/l). If, for example, they want to raise iodines of 0.10 mg/l in a 200 l aquarium: 0.125 x 200 x 0.10 = 2.5 ml.

TIP: It is normal that the iodine level falls after a few days for biological and chemical reasons. Therefore the frequency of dosages can vary from aquarium to aquarium while the doses can be increased or decreased according to the reaction of corals.
