For a beautiful and algae aquarium
The process of decomposition or mineralization of all the organic matter present in the aquarium (residues of food and plants, fish droppings) takes place through the protein-ammonium-nitrite-nitrated stages. With a well-functioning biological filtering system, neither ammonium nor nitrite should be detected; Nitrate content should slowly increase. Nitrate is the final mineralization stage in the aquarium and, in relatively high concentrations, it is not toxic to fish. Nitrate can be used as a nutrient for plants; However, if the amount of nitrate in the aquarium is too high, it has a negative effect on plant growth and can have a negative impact on the well-being of the most sensitive fish. Values exceeding 50 mg / L can also favor unwanted algae growth. You should therefore strive to maintain values less than 50 mg / l. With JBL Nitrate Test Set No3 You can measure nitrate values in your aquarium with ease.
Easy to use
Nitrates and phosphates are the main nutrients of algae. If you deprive the water of one or both substances, algae can no longer grow.
However, the bacteria decompose the nitrate only under certain conditions. Only when there is no more oxygen and there is a source of carbon (nourishment for bacteria), the bacteria decompose the nitrate to procure its oxygen.
With JBL Bionitratex, the bacteria deposit on the surface of the balls within 4 weeks and form a thick biofilm. Under the biofilm a low oxygen zone is created, in which the bacteria pass to the "breathing of nitrates" and knock the nitrate that promotes the proliferation of algae (NO3). The biological balls act as feed for bacteria, while nitrate as a source of oxygen. Therefore, over time the biosphereges decrease in size until it disappears completely. This lasts about 6-12 months, depending on the content of nitrates. Once the balls have disappeared, you have to add new ones.
Snails
If many snails rise to the balls of JBL Bionitratex, eating biofilm on their surface. As a result, oxygen will be able to reach the lower layers of bacteria, which will no longer need to decompose the nitrate to obtain oxygen. If there are many snails in your aquarium, it can be useful to pour the balls of JBL Bionitratex in a fine reticella that prevents the entry of snails.
Difference compared to JBL Nitratex: JBL Bionitratex works purely organically through the decomposition of bacterial nitrates. JBL NITRATEX, on the other hand, is made of a synthetic resin that links the water nitrate (only fresh water!) And exchanges it with harmless chloride (ion exchange function). The advantage of this system is that it can be used quickly, for example. To eliminate nitrates from current or sour water.
However, it is advisable not to reduce the content of nitrates too much. If you drop below mg / l, there is a risk of toxic sulphide acid formation in the aquarium.
JBL Nitratex cannot be used in marine aquariums. However, it can be used to remove nitrates from tap water before water change.
Content: 100 balls for reducing nitrates, for 200-300 liters of water
