The Proserpinaca is a stem plant, 10-40 cm tall and 5-10 cm wide.
Cultivated in closed cups, it is supplied with sawn teeth leaves, which after a transition period in the aquarium develop in long leaves, finely serrated and aghiform.
In good light conditions it assumes a nice rhyme color and its characteristic appearance is a pleasant contrast to the other plants.
The Proserpinaca palustris varies in shape depending on its origin. The cultivar Tropica is located on the Isla de la Juventud, off Cuba. In the United States the plant is commonly known as “mermaid weed”.
