The artemies, also known as Brine Shrimps, sea monkeys or saline artemies, are very small crustaceans living in salted wells (saline). Their eggs survive even at long periods spent at the dry and the nauples only open if they come back in contact with the water. The hatching takes place between 24 and 36 hours later. Nauples can be used as food for avannopters. Adult animals of a maximum size of two centimeters, on the other hand, can be used as food for large fish of marine or sweet water. Breeding artemies means always having live food. In fact, they are an ideal food, as well as a highly appreciated supplemental feed source for all aquarium fish. In order to breed the artemies, Dohse Aquaristik has developed a complete system for the breeding of artimies – ranging from the eggs of artemia, passing through the tools for culture to the special food for their breeding.
