Coral seaweeds, i.e. rose, red and purple reef algae based on calcium carbonate that cross the live rocks are beneficial in a reef aquarium, as they compete with harmful algae for nutrients and therefore prevent propagation.
Most of the rocks live in nature are a source of coralline algae, which naturally grow (without special supplements) in all barrier systems maintained at the increased levels of the basic elements (calc, carbonates and magnesium), suitable for hard corals and where the secondary elements and traces are integrated at their natural levels.
The normal water parameters for aquariums for only soft fish or corals do not provide the ideal conditions for coral seaweeds, which require a constant alkalinity of 3 meq/L (8.4 °dKH ), as well as a continuous supply of secondary elements and specific traces.
Coralline Gro
Coralline Gro is a compound of carbonate buffer substances, potassium and traces such as iron in the necessary ratio for coralline algae.
Coralline Gro should be used instead of ordinary buffer supplements (as Red Sea’s Reef Foundation B) during the cycle of all new marine aquariums and continuously in systems for only soft fish or corals.
Notes: When using Coralline Gro, use only other supplements containing elements such as potassium or iron (e.g. Red Sea’s Coral Colors B & C supplements) with a precise dose for each item. Coralline Gro should not be used with Red Sea’s Reef Foundation ABC+
General instructions for testing and integration:
1. Before testing water always check the salinity and make the necessary changes. In case of water changes, wait 10 minutes for water parameters to settle.
2. Testing only with high resolution kits as Red Sea’s Alkalinity Pro Titration Kit.
3. Red Sea’s Coralline Gro supplements has a dosage table for 100 liters / 25 gallons of water. Stimulate the total volume of water (water tank and tank minus the volume of the live rocks, etc.) to calculate the correct dosage suitable for your system.
4. Supplements should be added to the tank. If you do not have a tank, gradually add the supplements to an area with a high water flow to avoid direct contact with corals.
5. In order not to cause problems to corals the spare max. daily of alkalinity should not exceed meq/l (1.4 dkh)
