Installation in aquarium
MC 501 is provided with support (15) adjustable in height for mounting in aquarium both on the left and right side. Fix the support on the desired side and adjust the height of the skimmer so that the container is at least 80 mm above the water level. Adjust the height of the collection container (5) which must remain within the skimmer for approx. 50 mm. Operate the pump (level 4 controllers) ensuring that the control valve(2) is open. MC 501 is now ready for operation.

Installation in the external filter
Depending on the size of the filter, the skimmer can be installed directly in the filter tank (insure that the influx and outflow zones are not obstructed) or, as described above, fixed to the tank by means of the support.

The appearance of the foam can be adjusted by means of a transcimation wallpaper (12):
- Higher Paratia = dry foam
- Paratia deeper = wet foam
The minimum water level must be approx. 120 mm.
Operating the pump (level 4 controllers), MC 501 is ready for operation.

Regulation
If the foam is too wet, remove the container a little. If foam
is too dry, insert the container more in the container. Alternatively you can
adjust the foam through the transcimation bulkhead (12).

Note
Due to the filter sponge or other substances present on the surfaces, they can spend up to 48 hours
before the skimmer settles. The final adjustment must therefore be carried out after that period.

Warnings
If during the operation of the skimmer fine air bubbles end in the aquarium, the causes can be
different:
a. New marine water
Because of certain supplements present in many sea salts the skimmer produces air bubbles
extremely fine, which cannot be retained, and at the same time a very aqueous foam.
We recommend removing the control valve (2) and reducing the cited substances in aquarium water
by the frequent emptying of the collection container.
b. Adjustment valve (2) too closed, air pipe break in the skimmer, vent
(10) obstructed by salt crystals, limestone and dust.
Due to reduced air intake, the pump provides a greater amount of water in proportion that
increases the flow rate in the skimmer and generates air bubbles in the return, which normally
it's not happening.
Maintenance
Once properly installed and calibrated foams Deltec need little maintenance. However,
the use of kalkwasser mixers and calcium reactors can lead to the formation of limestone deposits that
can cause inconvenience in operation. It is therefore recommended to check if necessary or
however every 3-6 months that the rotor with the ceramic tree (7 and 6), and the air nozzle (10) are not
obstructed. Any limestone deposits can be removed by dipping the parts into a solution with a
common antiscale.
It is recommended to stop the pump for about 15-30 minutes once a week to avoid the deposit of
powder crystals and salt in the air inlet fitting.
