It stands out for the uniform black coloring, very appreciated for the strong visual contrast that creates in the aquarium, especially on clear or sandy funds.

The body is squat, rounded and compact, with harmonious dorsal profile. The head has the characteristic wen, a fleshy excrete that develops progressively with age and represent one of the main distinctive elements of the Oranda variety. The fins are large, soft and well developed, with an elegant double tail that gives a slow and graceful swimming.

The black livery can be slight variations over time, especially in function of light, feeding and water quality, but in optimal conditions it maintains a deep and velvety appearance.
