Staurogyne repens is a fresh, compact and resistant green plant for the first floor of the aquarium and was found in the Rio Cristalino river in the southern Amazon.

His closest relative in the aquarium is Hygrophila, but Staurogyne is different with its compact, low and thick stature (5-10 cm) and small green leaves (every stem is 3,4 cm wide). When planting in the aquarium, the longer vertical sprouts should be cut and soon new sprouts, crawling horizontally, will form from the base of the plant and gradually colonize the gravel.

In low light conditions, growth will be more upright and will form many less lateral shoots.
