The "red diamonds" by Echinodorus appeared in Ukraine, and is probably a cross between Echinodorus horemanni "Red" and Echinodorus "Barthii". The resulting hybrid is an attractive plant with ruby red sword shaped leaves, 15-25 cm long.
Unlike many other Echinodorus species, the Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' remains of moderate size (wide pipe 20-30 cm), therefore it is suitable in small aquariums.
The increase in nutrients in the substrate causes a more abundant growth, while conditions light favor promote the formation of ruby red leaves.
