When an aquarium has too few anaerobic zones or incomplete denitrification processes, Nitrates are formed

Too high concentration of Nitrati causes the growth of harmful algae that can irritate the corals. Nitrates can also cause a delay in the growth of corals. Nitrate concentration in a barrier aquarium should be less than 1mg/l. Fish-only aquariums can have higher concentrations.

Many tests use a procedure where a part of nitrates are chemically converted to Nitrites and measured as such. But in doing so it is likely to run into interferences that lead us to detect lower values than those really present. The test Salifert is not subject to these interferences, its special ingredients make it extremely fast and precise in measurements. The detection range range range ranges from very low to very high concentration (0.05-20 mg/l as Nitrates/Nitrogenics, 0.2-100mg/l as nitrate ions)

The package is enough for about 60 measurements.

Operating instructions

A)Put in the transparent container, using the 1 ml water syringe of your aquarium in the test container
B)Add a dust reagent measuring device NO3-1
C) Add a reagent mixture to NO3-2 powder. Agitate for 30 secondi.Lasciate rest for 3 minutes.
D)Put the container over the color scale on a white part and compare the color. From this you will return the concentration of Nitrati. An average coloring corresponds to an intermediate concentration.
Nitrate values are in ppm (mg/l)
Increase sensitivity:
use this procedure only when the concentration is less than 10 ppm. Keep the container in front of you and look through profile. Hold the color scale behind the tube. Make sure a white part of the staircase is behind the container. The results must be divided by 10. In this way you will easily detect concentrations of 0.2 ppm
