It belongs to the Lythraceae family and is native to north America.
It's a plant palustre formed by very fine leaves and quite delicate. In the aquarium it can reach the 40 cm height.
To grow well needs a fertile background, tender and acid water and a lot of light.
In optimal conditions the plant assumes a red color in the apical part and produces very small flowers (about 2 mm) axillaries of red or green color.
